Happy Holidays, Friends!
Wishing you and your family happiness, quality time, and laughter this holiday season! 'Nuff Said.
Last night I was invited to an art exhibit, hosted by Saatchi & Saatchi NY. Created by Jason Woodside, the artwork was colorful, detailed, and provided a light, playful atmosphere for the art-goers and Saatchi employees to schmooze around. Jason uses tape, spray, and other elements to create his work. I have always been a fan of bright colors and various shapes coming together to form something beautiful – I would wear his work if I could. In fact, one of the Saatchi employees donned a lovely printed scarf that Jason had given her as a birthday gift, which speaks volumes to the atmosphere of the evening. Very friendly and very supportive. Did I mention how beautiful the Saatchi headquarters are? Modern and pristine with smiles all around. It was a lovely night, indeed. Check out this short interview with Jason Woodside by Elite Daily - great vision: Written by CEO & Founder, Toro Adeyemi Today was a lovely Sunday: I woke up nice and early, went to the gym for spin, had a shake and was getting ready to go into the city for a trip to The Standard Hotel. I peeked outside and saw my neighbour and asked her what she was up to. Low and behold, she and another neighbour were on their way to Hastings-on-Hudson for a studio tour of local artists, featuring various sculptures, paintings and other creations, on display and available for purchase. I decided to join them. There are many things I appreciate about Artists: I appreciate their talent, their style, their craftsmanship, their ability to communicate a message or an idea... it's a refreshing feeling to be surrounded by creative minds. Personally it gets my mind racing--what can I do to channel my creative energies? What activities might I take up to feel more innovative or expressive? The last stop on our studio tour was to a home--I climbed up the stairs to the attic and entered a sunny room with high ceilings and water colors all around. I sat and observed as the Artist spoke to other guests and explained her work. As I sat, I looked at the bookshelf nearby and saw a small, unmarked brown book which, after inspecting, had no content. I asked if it was for sale and as the Artist was moving out of her home, she sold it to me for a couple of dollars, pointing to a stack of over 20 sketchbooks she had filled. After this, and an impromptu conversation with an admirable Broadway choreographer, I left feeling I had some more direction--curiously received from a book with blank pages. I also left the tour with a lovely clay turquoise bowl! Written by CEO & Founder, Toro Adeyemi

Written by CEO & Founder, Toro Adeyemi This event. Was AWESOME. Held at the Brooklyn Lyceum, the event started family friendly with balloon animals, face painting and music for all the little children. All the while, art was exhibited around the entire space which only added to the festive environment. When the sun set, the show truly began! The circus featured ribbon flying, fire dancing, contortionists and illusions. It was a spectacle to be sure. The audience was kept either laughing, gasping or staring in awe at the performers on stage. We also appreciated the bake sale table and bar! Check out the photos in the gallery here. Written by CEO & Founder, Toro Adeyemi The Brooklyn Bazaar is an outdoor market inspired by night markets traditionally found across the continent of Asia. The Bazaar took place 6pm-12am on Friday and Saturday's from November 23rd to December 22nd. Inside the warehouse space were over 100 independent clothing, art, food and beer & wine vendors. Ping pong tables were set up for recreational use, and nearby was a space designated for some pick up soccer. Each weekend featured a different musical artist and if you were interested in paying, there was a restaurant and beer tasting on the upper level of the warehouse. The Brooklyn Bazaar is a magical event filled with constant activity and opportunities to engage with local vendors and other New Yorkers (or anyone from out of state!). If you didn't get a chance this year, make sure you check out our photos here. Written by CEO & Founder, Toro Adeyemi Williamsburg Brooklyn hosts Etsy's Holiday Handmade Cavalcade, featuring over 35 local artisans, designers and crafters. Inside the location are a number of vendors with products ranging from hand knits to jewelry to chocolate! If you've spent some time browsing around, there is also a station for you to grab some tea, coffee and water. We LOVED getting free charm necklaces from Brooklyn Charm--it was a great memento from a great event. This guy is clearly pumped to be here. More pictures can be found in the Gallery~
